Oprah showed the official White House gingerbread house on her Christmas special last night which is magnificent. It is HUGE!, weighs over 500 lbs, is covered in white chocolate and took a half dozen pastry chefs months to prepare. Then Oprah showed pictures of past White House gingerbread houses which basically looked like larger versions of ordinary gingerbread houses. While Obama is waging war on ‘fat cat’ Wall Street bankers for not fixing his economic mess and telling everyone he feels their pain and is concerned about the deficit while Congress is passing trillion dollar spending bills left and right, why is it necessary for the White House to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to build a gingerbread house? From people who have no trouble reminding us of what humble beginnings they came from, they sure have a LOT of trouble demonstrating a little personal restraint in tough economic times.
