Shortly after capturing a top Taliban commander in Pakistan several days ago, U.S. and allied forces launched a raid against a Taliban stronghold in southern Afghanistan that is bearing fruit. A remarkable aspect of the raid are reports by our military commanders that U.S. forces have encountered less initial resistance than expected and that they have been able to avoid traps of land mines and IED’s laid by the Taliban in an effort to repel potential invaders. The implication is that an initial aggressive interrogation of this terrorist has undoubtedly saved the lives of untold numbers of U.S. and allied forces and led to military success. Hopefully, President Obama will learn this lesson the next time we capture a member of Al Qaeda committing an act of mass terror instead of standing on his high horse of moral rectitude and defending advisors who think 20% recidivism among released terrorists is “not that bad.”
